Aug. 15--His memory lives on.
Fans of Nipsey Hussle visited the late rapper's clothing store in Los Angeles on Thursday to pay homage on what would've been his 34th birthday.
Video shared by local news station ABC 7 shows people releasing balloons nearing the Marathon Clothing shop. They also came equipped with a poster featuring a series of photos on it.
Large crowds had been expected at the scene in advance of the birthday of the rapper, who was fatally shot in the parking lot of the store in the Crenshaw neighborhood of L.A. on March 31.
A chain-link fence surrounding the parking lot was recently put up, as many people had been visiting the area following Hussle's death, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Marathon Clothing has been closed since Hussle was killed.
Photos published by the LA Times earlier this week show that a green layer runs along the fence to shield the view. Barbed wire also appears to be on top of it.
Eric Holder, 29, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting of Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom.
On Thursday, Hussle's longtime girlfriend Lauren London shared a heartfelt message on Instagram.
"Today we should love and give truth because that is how He lived his life," she captioned the photo. "His Purpose still lives on with us all. Ermias wasn't a sad soul. He was a powerful strong magical soul. Today is the day we lift up."
